Tactical Knife

Tactical Knives can serve diverse functions ranging from self defense to cutting down hardest materials. Notwithstanding the intended use of these knives, they can aid you on easing your life in daily scenarios where cutting different objects is required. In addition, tactical knives aid you in emergency situations as well where you need to defend yourself. But, these tasks can be served by any pocket knife. So, what exactly are the tactical knives? Let’s figure it out.

Following are some essential features of a tactical knife:

An Appropriate Design
A specific design does not make the tactical knives recognizable. These knives don’t have a similar design, but it’s their intended use that determines the design. You must have heard that tactical knives are more common among the military, but in fact it isn’t the case. A normal knife can be a tactical knife if it is designed for fighting or combat. So, what important is to identify which tasks are to be performed with the knife. A tactical knife must be designed in a way that it easily performs the intended task. Hence, it should have an appropriate design with respect to its usage.

Comfortable Ergonomics
One of the most significant aspects of a tactical knife is its ergonomics. The knife must feel comfortable when you are holding it in your hands. Also, it must feel comfortable while using and handling it under stress. To the handle, there must be no sharp corners, pinch points and unnatural feel. Now, it should feel that way, both in reverse grip and forward grip like stiletto knife. Also, in case of a tactical knife, there should be no sculpturing and convoluted contours to the handle. The knife should fit you in size, weight and shape. Therefore, these essentials would make it easy to handle.

Meet the Requirements
Every user of tactical knives would have different needs associated with them. A tactical knife should meet the requirements. As there are no specific users of these knives, the purposes and requirements are different for everyone. A cop will have different requirements as compared to a SWAT officer. What your tactical knife is supposed to deliver is your purpose. You should choose your tactical knife depending upon the requirements of your job. Your knife should be able to cut down hardest of things if you are in a potentially hostile environment. So, it’s not the style of the knife, it’s the purpose that defines the knife.

The Right Size
As any design should be purpose driven, the size of the tactical knife is as much like to hunting knife, because it has to be reflective of the task it is intended to perform. It is not necessary that an ultimate tactical knife should be large because it is designed for combat. A 15 inches long knife does not necessarily possess the strength you are looking for. I use the word “right”, because the right size is what makes your purpose fulfilled. Hence, the tactical knives should possess appropriate size. Typically, tactical knives must have a blade of 3 to 4 inches long and overall length of 8 to 9 inches.
